Russia/Ukraine Update: Export sanctions are changing rapidly due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. If any of your work involves Russia, Belarus, or Ukraine, or the other comprehensively sanctioned countries (Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria), contact the ORCI to discuss your planned activities before conducting them. The U.S. government has very strict regulations in place for these countries, and an export license is usually required to conduct work/transactions with individuals in these countries, even if no monetary exchange is involved.

The ORCI is looking to help guide university research, in accordance with its mission statement: Creating a culture of ACTIVE, ENGAGED, and ETHICAL research.

The Office of Research Compliance and Integrity (ORCI) at GVSU, an entity of the CENTER FOR SCHOLARLY AND CREATIVE EXCELLENCE, covers a variety of compliance programs. Browse our website or contact our office to find out how the ORCI can help with your research project. We oversee general research practices, such as Responsible Conduct of Research and Conflict of Interest in Research, as well as more specialized areas, such as Human Subjects Research and Animal Care and Use.

Faculty preparing for sabbaticals are encouraged to visit the ORCI sabbatical page for helpful information.

Safety Training is required for all paid employees working in labs, studios, shops, and scientific fieldwork. Students in advanced courses and research staff working independently in labs should also attend training. Training is only required to be taken once, but it never hurts to have a refresher.  Click here for more information.

Student Outcomes

Student outcomes describe fundamental competencies students should know or be able to demonstrate upon completion of an academic program, or products of co-curricular programming (such as those provided by the ORCI). Click the links below for more information:
